Praz Bansi

Name: Praz Bansi

Age: 29

Hometown: London

Nickname: None as yet

Started Playing: Have always loved to gamble and just seem to get involved with poker around 2 years ago, listened to a friend who told me to stop wasting time and start playing!

Favourite starting hand: It’s a terrible hand but I like A8 the dead mans hand! I try not to play it but seem to have won massive pots with it and was the final hand when I won my WSOP bracelet.

Poker Achievements:

Date Event Buy-In Result Winnings
Aug 2006 WSOP Las Vegas $1,000 1st $226,000
Jan 2007 GUKPT Bolton £1,000 1st £75,500
Feb 2007 Birmingham Main Event £1,000 1st £32,550

Bio:

Praz made his breakthrough in 2007 when he won event 40 at the WSOP, where he outlasted 1099 players and took home a first prize of over $200,000 and a much coveted WSOP winners bracelet. In January 2007 he cemented his reputation as one of the UK’s fastest rising poker talents when he defeated 196 other players to win the inaugural GUKPT event in Bolton. He took home a first prize of over £75,000 for his efforts along with a Tutima winners watch to add to his collection of poker jewellery. Praz is part of a poker crew who collectively call themselves ‘The Hit Squad.’ Fellow crew members include Bolton runner up Karl Mahrenholz, Jim Kerrigan, James Akenhead and brothers Sunny and Chaz Chattha.

Sponsorship Status:

Praz joined Blue Square as a sponsored player in May 2007. He is yet to play in his first event as a sponsored pro as his deal focuses around EPT events taking place later in the year. He is spending the summer in Las Vegas in his quest for a second WSOP bracelet to go with the one he won last year.

Advice for Beginners:

Play solid, tight aggressive is the best way (for now anyway!)
