Second Year for Poker 6
The Poker 6 is a unique No Limit Texas Hold’em event that combines a single table shoot out format with the usual multi table format of most poker tournaments. The inaugural event took place in Bolton last year and was won by Steve Read who picked up a handsome £29,000 for his efforts. This year the capacity has been increased from 108 to 144. The total prize pool this year is expected to be in excess of £150,000, including £21,000 added by Blue Square.
Format
On Day 1 players compete on short-handed tables of 6 players. Each table is a shootout with the winner of each table progressing to the final stages of the tournament, to be played on Day 2. Players who lose on Day 1 are awarded a complimentary entry into The Grosvenor Plate, a £100 rebuy tournament that also takes place on Day 2. The winners of each table on Day 1 receive £2,000 in prize money.
On Day 2 the winners continue the tournament on short handed tables of 6 players, but it is no longer a shootout format. Instead it is the usual multi-table format of most poker tournaments. The last 6 players standing will contest the final table and compete for the majority of the prize pool.
The Grosvenor Plate
All players who are eliminated on Day 1 are granted a free entry into the Grosvenor Plate, a £100 No Limit Hold’em Tournament with one optional rebuy/add-on permitted. The tournament is restricted to 120 players. Direct buy-in may be available if all seats are not taken by Poker 6 participants.
The Final Table Saver Prize
If you are knocked out on Day 1 of the tournament you can still win some money if the player who wins your table goes on to win on Day 2. All 5 losing players on the eventual winner’s Day 1 table will receive a prize of £1,000, added by Blue Square Poker.
Added Prize Money
Blue Square is adding a total of £21,000 to the prize pool. This includes:
- £4,000 to the overall winner
- 5 x £1,000 Final Table Saver Prizes
- 120 x £100 entries into the Grosvenor Plate.
